A stock near its 52-week low with a low P/E and high ROCE is a significantly more interesting contrarian candidate than one with an elevated P/E that has simply corrected from an overvalued level. Also review the dividend yield if applicable — a stock near its annual low often has its highest historical dividend yield, which can provide a return floor and signal of management confidence in the business outlook.
